Business Studies Student Specialising in Business Analytics at Dublin City University.

Scroll down to read about my journey.

I first came across Business Analytics during my higher certificate in Business Management at TU Dublin. I thoroughly enjoyed the learning style that accompanied analytics, one which was much more hands-on and practical. In 2021, I progressed into second year of Business Studies at DCU. During this time, I was able to continue my learning in the field of analytics, with an emphasis on understanding predictive analysis. At the end of the year, I created a model using Excel that predicted the profit of an airline based on how many seats they sell each flight.

In 3rd year, to further hone my skills, I completed a 13-month internship at BioMarin Pharmaceutical as a Global Process Transformation Intern. I chose this role as it allowed me to experience what it was like to be a Business Analyst in the real world. During my time at BioMarin, I created several Power BI dashboards, and Power Automate Flows, and presented my work to high-level executives. It was this experience that solidified my decision to specialise in Business Analytics in my final year at DCU.

Throughout my final year, I have continued to develop my analytical skills by using Python to create machine learning algorithms, SQL for database management, Power BI for data visualisation, and R for statistical analysis. With this skillset, I have obtained a graduate role at PwC as a Data Analyst on their Risk Assurance team. I will be enrolled in the MSc in Computing program (majoring in Data Analytics) at DCU by PwC and will gain further experience as an analyst. I believe that continuous learning in this field will set me up to succeed in the future.
